ICE is confirmed to be in Wake County as of today (Tues 11/18). They are most likely going to target Raleigh, Garner, and Durham but there have been verified sightings in Holly Springs on 11/17. Anyone in Wake or surrounding counties should be vigilant.
WCI is working on a plan in connection with the organizations who have been doing this work for a long time. We know that some people will not feel safe leaving their homes to shop or work. There will be a need for supplies and funds. WCI will support collectives with long standing relationships in these targeted communities, not divert resources away from them. We are in communication with these groups; this respect and communication is why we have not yet set up collection points or started fundraising. We hope to have some direction by mid-day (Tuesday). Please stay tuned- we will begin organizing teams shortly.
What Can I Do Now:
Check in on your neighbors, spread the word about ICE coming to Wake and Durham
We know ICE targets people due to their appearance and their work (landscapers, construction workers, etc) if you know anyone who may be targeted coming to work, reach out and cancel any appointments (like getting your lawn done)
Figure out a payment plan alternative.

Call Governor Josh Stein and your representatives to let them know that we want ICE out of NC - see numbers and scripts below.
Keep checking our Actions Guide- ICE tab as on-going updating resource.
Remember, we take care of each other- thank you for caring.
Info and scripts for calling:
Phone calls to make
Call Governor Josh Stein (919) 814-2000 press 5
Suggested Script: This is (name) and I am a constituent from (zip). I was disappointed in the Governor’s initial statement welcoming ICE to NC, assuming they were only going to arrest violent criminals. We have seen their cruelty and indiscriminate violence elsewhere; they are now bringing this to Charlotte with the violent arrests of a citizen, a teenager and others. The Governor must speak up, loudly, against this behavior. Take a lesson from both Governors Pritzker and Newsom and support those who are actively resisting these horrific actions. Thank you.
Call our Senators: (Thom Tillis: D.C. (202) 224-6342) (Ted Budd: D.C. 202-224-3154)
This is (name) from (zip). I want ICE and Border patrol out of North Carolina. They are bringing violence and destruction to innocents, not violent criminals. Remember, in most cases, even if people are in the US illegally, it is a civil, not a criminal offense. And being detained by masked men throwing you to the ground is not due process. As a North Carolinian, I don’t want ICE or CPB here. The Senator must defend his constituents and call for them to leave immediately.
