Tuesday, May 26, 2026 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM ET
North Carolina General Assembly, 16 W Jones St, Raleigh, NC 27601
Across our state and across the country, reckless ICE and CBP operations have inflicact.acluofnc.org/a/rallydetcenter0526 ted fear and lasting harm on immigrant families and entire communities.
Despite public outcry, ICE and CBP violence has only continued to escalate. In 2026 so far, at least 17 people have died in ICE custody. Since the start of the second Trump administration, over 40 people have died in immigration detention. These deaths are rising and now occur at a rate of roughly one every six days — the deadliest in decades.
A lawsuit filed by ACLU-NC revealed critical details about ICE's detention expansion plans, including that GEO Group, a private, for-profit prison corporation, proposed reopening the Rivers Correctional Facility in Winton, North Carolina as an ICE detention center.
We cannot allow a detention facility to open in North Carolina without a fight.
Join us outside the North Carolina General Assembly on May 26 at 2:00PM for a press conference and rally to demand that our lawmakers publicly condemn any plans to expand ICE detention in North Carolina and take all actions within their power to keep this cruelty out of our state and end ICE and CBP terror.
In the only state STILL WITH0UT A BUDGET, while state leaders are overfunding vouchers for private schools and starting public schools - our children continue to pay the price. Call your representatives now!
While the ICE presence in Minnesota has been drawn down, their communities still love in fear.
Not just Minneapolis, and not just the people protesting. Across Minnesota, ICE continues to stop, harass, and detain people regardless of their citizenship status. Normal life in Minnesota has been interrupted, as schools have been forced to close or go virtual, as people live in fear of leaving their homes or going to work.
As our Wake County Indivisibles supported our own Triangle Mutual Aid organizations - Minnesotans need that same help from us. See several organizations below and in our Actions Guide, to stay updated, provide support and most importantly - donate to their efforts.
WCI continues to support organizations in support of our immigrant neighbors- Siembra NC, El Pueblo, Carolina Migrants Network, RUMAH (Raleigh United Mutual Aid Hub) and others.
Other actions can be found at the link to our ICE Actions Guide.
